Pet parents have many questions when it comes to dog grooming, we have created a list of the most frequently asked questions to answer your questions and top concerns. Most answers are provided but if you have any more questions, you can call us or get in touch with us via email.
Healthy Grooming You can bring your pup to us after they have completed their first vaccinations, which is normally at about 3 months. Depending on the breed, we will recommend the right regimen for your pet as he or she evolves from their puppy to adult coat.
Nail Trimming? Whether your pet is a puppy or an adult dog, the best way to introduce them to grooming is to take them on an orientation visit. You can make sure that your pet is introduced to the grooming salon’s sights, sounds, and smells in a fun and relaxed way. This ensures that stress to the animal is minimised when they come in for their first trim. To read more about this please look at this great article on dog nail clipping.
Can my old but wise and loyal dog be groomed? As long as you inform us in advance about your dog’s age and problems, we can make sure that they are as comfortable as possible during their visit and also minimise the time spent with us. If you have any doubt, you should consult your vet who is the best person to decide whether grooming your older dog may have any adverse risks.
Does my dog need to be fully vaccinated? Yes. We request that you bring a copy of your dog’s vaccination records with you on your first visit. We may keep the copy for our records. This is in your dog’s best interest, as well as all the other dogs that come to our shop.
Do you groom dogs that can be aggressive at times? Sorry, but the answer to this is no. Grooming a pet that can be aggressive has too many risks. There have been cases where dog groomers have had to be put on permanent disability as a result of nerve damage caused by dog bites, which in turn have led to financial hardship. Due to this, we prefer not to groom dogs that show signs of aggression.
